Below are preliminary sketches from a multimedia project on a decaying French colonial apartment block in Saigon. This building sits on one of the most expensive pieces of real estate in Vietnam, and is not long for this world. Inevitably, it will be demolished in favor of some sort of high rise/shopping mall complex. Until that happens, I’m hoping to spend some more time there with my friend Ben, tracking down a nicely layered story about the people who live here, and the stories behind the tattered walls.

I am the chief photographer for epa (european pressphoto agency) in Vietnam, where I have lived since 2002. In 2009 I won World Press Photo and Sony World Photography awards. I take editorial and corporate assignments around Asia. When not taking photos, I try to teach my son Edan how to load film in a Mamiya 6. He's 8 months old. Its not going well.
